What is Endovenous Laser Therapy?
Endovenous Laser Treatment, or EVLT, is a treatment method used to correct the most common underlying cause of varicose veins. Sometimes called endovenous laser thermal ablation, this effective treatment became FDA approved in 2003 and has continued to rise in popularity since. No longer must you go through the process of reducing varicose veins through surgery. With EVLT, you can be part of a 98 percent success rate with a much less invasive procedure.
How Does This Treatment Work?
Endovenous Laser Therapy (EVLT) is a fast, generally painless procedure. To begin the procedure, we inject a local numbing solution before gently inserting a small catheter into the vein to be treated. Through the catheter, a small laser fiber is inserted into the vein to damage the vein using applied heat. This allows the vein to close safely in order to minimize its appearance and allow the blood to flow effectively through healthy surrounding veins.
How Many Treatments Are Required?
This is a quick outpatient procedure requiring only one treatment and allowing you to recover comfortably in your own home.
Is EVLT Safe?
EVLT is a safe, effective procedure, which has been approved by the FDA for more than a decade.
Will There Be Any Downtime?
You will return home following the procedure. We encourage you to stay active and moving immediately after treatment and return to work the same day or the next day. Any discomfort will be treated with over-the-counter ibuprofen, and you are encouraged to wear a compression stocking for one week for best results.
What Are The Results?
Endovenous Laser Therapy (EVLT) safely recirculates your blood into healthy veins. This allows you to reduce your varicose veins and any of the signs and symptoms associated with this condition. The results of EVLT are enhanced health, appearance, and function in the legs.
How Much Does Endovenous Laser Therapy Cost?
There is no one cost for endovenous laser therapy, as the cost varies depending upon the type of therapy specified in your treatment plan, however, it is covered by most insurance plans. We will always ensure that you know the cost upfront and will work with you to determine a plan that is both affordable and effective. We offer financing options such as deposits on accounts prior to treatment, CareCredit® and we accept credit cards (Master and Visa).
